The scalp is skin, and skin can get dry or oily. And if this happens, you are going to develop dandruff, or worse, an itch. If your scalp is not healthy, it will reflect on your hair, too.

The thing with hair treatment is it can get too expensive. As such, we thought that it would benefit our readers to learn what organic home remedies can be used to treat mild scalp and hair problems.

The three organic remedies to have healthy scalp and hair are:

  • Aloe Vera

  • Baking soda

  • Onion juice

There is a myriad of scalp and hair problems. For these three home remedies, we will focus on dry scalp and hair growth.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is one of those plants that seemingly do not run out of beneficial uses. The gel has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. And because it is 96% water, our bodies have no problems interacting with the gel.

Aloe Vera is rich in several vitamins like A, C, and E. All of these play a crucial role in keeping your skin moisturized. Applying Aloe Vera on your scalp also reduces the oil content, thus making your hair shiny, and reducing the itch.

Although dandruff itself is not a problem, the itching can cause inflammation. And this is how Aloe Vera can help. It has anti-inflammatory properties that will sooth the itch.

To use, simply get the gel substance from the plant and massage on your scalp. If you have no Aloe Vera in your house, you can buy organic hair products made with Aloe Vera extracts, like ECOKISS shampoo and conditioner .

Baking Soda

Dandruff is caused by irritated and oily scalp. Baking soda is usually used for cookies and cleaning, but it does wonders to the scalp, too. It removes excess oils from your scalp, and washing off that grease will help make your scalp healthier.

As a natural anti-septic, baking soda is also going to balance the pH level of your scalp and hair.

So how do you use it?

Mix two table spoons of baking soda with water. You have to achieve the consistency of a paste. Use this paste to massage your scalp. Let stand for a few minutes and rinse.

Do this only once or twice a week, as you want your scalp to still have oil. If your scalp is too dry, it will get itchy again, and your hair will start to break because of the lack of natural oils.

Onion Juice

If your problem is hair loss, onion juice is the primary treatment. Not only will it remedy hair loss. But it can also cure dandruff and bring back the luster of your hair.

Onion is rich in sulfur, and sulfur is an important ingredient of keratin. Keratin is what our hair and nails are made of. To have strong hair, you must have adequate amount of sulfur and keratin.

Also, the sulfur helps in the production of collagen. Collagen is what keeps our skin cells healthy and make our hair grow.

To use, squeeze the onion and get let the juice flow in a container. Get a cotton swab and apply it on your scalp. Let it stand for a few minutes and rinse. Do this once a day.

Some people are allergic to onions, as onions are caustic. They can sting. Better test it first on one area, like the elbow, before going full-on. If you develop a rash or the sting is too much to bear, discontinue use.

Summary

For simple scalp and hair problems, there are remedies that you can easily find in your cupboard. If you do not see the results you want, then perhaps you need a more concentrated form of these materials, which you can get from organic beauty products.
